UsePawMap Privacy Policy

UsePawMap ("we," "our," or "us") operates the UsePawMap mobile application (the "App"), which helps users find pet-friendly places such as parks, cafés, hotels, and veterinary clinics. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using UsePawMap, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information from your chosen sign-in method:

  • Email and password, if you register directly
  • Name, email, and profile photo, if you sign in with Google or Apple

1.2 Location Information

With your permission, we collect your device's precise or approximate location to show you nearby pet-friendly places and to power search and map features. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, though some features may not work correctly without it.

1.3 Photos and Camera

If you choose to upload photos of places or your pet (for example, in reviews or your dog's profile), we access your camera and photo library with your permission. We only access photos or record video when you actively choose to do so.

1.4 Pet and Profile Information

Information you add about your dog(s) (name, breed, photos) and your public profile (username, bio) is stored so it can be displayed within the App.

1.5 User-Generated Content

Reviews, ratings, photos, and collections you create are stored and may be visible to other users, depending on your privacy settings.

1.6 Business Account Information

If you register a business (e.g., a pet-friendly café or hotel), we collect the business details you submit for listing and verification under our "Verified by UsePawMap™" program.

1.7 Purchase Information

If you subscribe to Golden Club (our premium tier), purchase transactions are processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details; we receive subscription status information from RevenueCat.

1.8 Push Notification Data

If you enable notifications, we store a device token to send you relevant updates (e.g., new reviews, nearby places).

1.9 Automatically Collected Information

We may collect device type, operating system, app version, and usage analytics to help us maintain and improve the App.

1.10 Optional Demographic Information

You may optionally choose to share your age range and gender on your profile. This is never required, is never shown on your public profile, and is never shared individually with businesses. It is only used in aggregate (e.g., "40% of visitors were 25–34") to help business owners understand their audience, and only shown once enough visitors have shared this info that no individual could be identified.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Show you pet-friendly places near your location
  • Let you create and manage reviews, collections, and your dog's profile
  • Verify business listings under the "Verified by UsePawMap™" standard
  • Process subscriptions and premium features
  • Send push notifications you've opted into
  • Improve and secure the App

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers that help us run the App: Supabase (database and authentication), Google (Maps, Places, and Sign-In), Apple (Sign in with Apple), and RevenueCat (subscription management)
  • Other users, for content you choose to make public (reviews, profile, collections)
  • Authorities, if required by law

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 8).

5. Children's Privacy

UsePawMap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information
  • Withdraw consent for location, camera, or notification access via your device settings
  • Request a copy of your data

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 8.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
